Golfer Benjamin Davis drops to 19th place

HE improved on his opening day performance by two strokes, but Benjamin Davis dropped three notches to 19th place at the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship.

On Monday, after shooting a five-over-par 75 at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Florida, that had him in a six-way tie for 16th place, he shot a three-over-par 73 yesterday to lower his position in the standings.

Davis, 16, is in a two-way battle with American Chris Ingham of Miami, Florida, who shot 76 yesterday after opening up with a 72 on the first day.

VICTIMS of the fire-ravaged Haitian village sought refuge in tents last night as efforts to feed, clothe and find temporary homes for them were started.

Late yesterday evening two large tents were erected when it was feared that women and young children would be forced to sleep on the ashes of their former homes.

Some 40 displaced families received hot food distributed from a church bus and donated by concerned charities and community members.

Devastated by the indiscriminate fire that consumed more than 100 wooden shanties on Boxing Day - homes estimated to house at least four people each - the overwhelming need is ...
