The Best Birthday Present
Tue, Dec 31st 2019, 02:26 PM
This year Attorney Mavis Johnson Collie decided to celebrate her birthday giving back, and what better beneficiaries than survivors of hurricane Dorian.
Mavis partnered with TOPs Lumber and Plumbing on Wilton Street and invited friends and family to stop by and pay on an account to purchase building supplies for a senior citizen on the hurricane ravished island of Abaco.
However, the birthday girl was pleasantly surprised by the group Journey International, a group of young children from the innercity, mentored by her cousin Dezree Taylor.
The group came and serenaded the birthday girl but not before presenting her with a cheque to help purchased building materials.
“This was the best part of the day” said Johnson-Collie. “My husband and I had prescheduled travel plans immediately following the passage of hurricane Dorian, so I kept feeling the need to do more to assist once I got back home.
This effort will not be the last to help in the rebuilding effort”. The account will remain open for a few more days under the name “B$LLs to Build”.
