Nassau, Bahamas - World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.

THE DEMOCRATIC National Alliance (DNA) held a street meeting on Tuesday night in Murphy Town, Abaco, to announce its candidate for North Abaco to run against Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham in the upcoming general election.

Even as party leader Branville McCartney announced the candidacy of Sonith Lockhart for North Abaco, the DNA's candidate for South Beach, Sammie "Star" Poitier, was having his position stripped from him.

A FORMER Bahamas Chamber of Commerce president yesterday said the details surrounding Kerzner International's $175 million debt-for-equity swap did not 'add up', questioning how the new owners would see a return on their Paradise Island assets if no operational/business model changes were forthcoming.

Emphasising that he was not speaking as the PLP's Pinewood candidate, Khaalis Rolle questioned how Atlantis and the One & Only Ocean Club would generate the level of profitability likely expected by Brookfield Asset Management, especially as another cost layer was being added through Kerzner International's management fee.
