Hands for Hunger continued its mission of helping others by hosting their 7th annual key fundraising event, Paradise Plates.

A splendid night of culinary delights, this year's event raised nearly $20,000 from the silent auction alone with the help of BahamasLocal.com.

Facilitated by BahamasLocal.com, the country's largest internet company, the silent auction featured items such as family island getaways, trips to Miami Beach and New York City, deluxe spa packages, local one-of-a-kind artwork, private chefs for a night, designer accessories and more.

Patrons of Paradise Plates were able to use their smartphones to place their bids with real-time information being streamed on flat screen monitors throughout the venue.  For those patrons who were less tech savvy, aides were in place with tablets to assist.

"This year's Paradise Plates auction was special in particular because of the combined efforts of two major partners, BahamasLocal.com and BTC, who provided the means to allow our silent auction to become electronic for the very first time.

Through BahamasLocal.com's extremely generous in-kind website auction development and hosting, we received more bidding engagement than ever before and were able to capture necessary data, making the bidding and check-out process seamless," said Anna Bancroft, Communications Manager for Hands for Hunger.

"It's always a pleasure to support Hands for Hunger in their mission,” said Jason McDowall, CEO of BahamasLocal.com.

“Paradise Plates is a phenomenal event and we were excited to work with them in debuting our online silent auction system.  Everything was live and the feedback from everyone was incredible."

Not only did Paradise Plates raise funds for their usual cause, but in light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Joaquin a portion of the proceeds, more than $2,000, have been dedicated to the hurricane relief effort.

Seven years in, Paradise Plates has gained a reputation as one of the premier charity events in the country and BahamasLocal.com is committed to the continued support of the event.

"We are extremely grateful for BahamasLocal.com's support and look forward to a continued partnership in the fight against hunger in The Bahamas," said Vanessa Eneas, Director of Hands for Hunger.
