ATLANTIS DEAL: JOB SECURITY FOR 8,000 IS 'EMBEDDED'

KERZNER INTERNATIONAL yesterday said its debt-for-equity swap with a major creditor had gone "a long way" to removing its $2.6 billion debt burden, having "embedded in the agreement" with Atlantis's new owner "assurances" there would be no cuts to the resort's 7,500-strong workforce.

NASSAU, Bahamas -- Ms. Terrecita Kemp was recently acknowledged for her distinguished career as a civil servant when she recognized internationally with the Pioneer Award at the 6th Annual Salute to Greatness Awards held recently at the Crystal Ballroom of the Wyndham Cable Beach Resort, Nassau.
Hosted by the King Foundation in the United States, the "Salute to Greatness" Awards are presented each year to individuals and organizations globally that have made numerous contributions to enhancing the quality of life for others, exemplifying excellence in leadership, and demonstrating a commitment to the principles and philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Special guest at the event was the renowned gospel music legend, Dr. Bobby Jones, who made the presentation to Mrs. Kemp. Ms. Kemp said her philosophy has always been that "We must remember that the degree of success in anything worth pursuing is always measured by the degree of dedication and commitment to the task at hand.
"I had enjoyment for a life time while at the Ministry of Tourism," said Ms. Kemp. The many areas in which I served ensured that I was able to contribute directly to visitor satisfaction and making sure that our guests had memorable vacations."

Nassau, Bahamas - The following is a Statement by the Rt. Hon. Hubert A. Ingraham, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on the Transfer of Ownership of Kerzner International Properties, Paradise Island made in the House of Assembly, 29th November, 2011.
Early this afternoon Kerzner International announced the reorganization of its business operations internationally including The Bahamas.
As I informed the press a few hours ago, Kerzner International proposes to transfer its ownership of the Atlantis Resort and Paradise Island properties, including the One and Only Ocean Club, to Brookfield Asset Management, a Canadian publicly-traded company with some $159 billion in assets...
