NASSAU, Bahamas - A woman is warning drivers to keep their guard up after she had a chain snatched from her neck by a boy who looked about 12 years old.

Police at the Wulff Road Police station confirmed the story, which has been circulating by email since it happened last week Monday.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, had stopped at the Collins Avenue and Wulff Road junction around 5pm last week Monday. She noticed a group of boys all wearing white t-shirts.

Originally the woman assumed the boys were begging for money until one of them came over and stuck his hand through her window; ripping her gold chain from her neck and running off.

"He didn't say anything - I didn't have a chance to react and he was gone," she said.

Superintendent Ashton Greenslade, officer-in-charge of the Wulff Road Police Station, said a juvenile has since been arrested and charged before the courts on the complaint.

Greenslade said there have been about four similar reports in the last four months.
