A woman who set up an armed robbery that resulted in a murder was yesterday sentenced to seven years' imprisonment.
Bethany Rigby, 21, pleaded guilty to conspiring with others to carry out an armed robbery against Hillary Cargill, 45, on February 27. As a result of the plea, prosecutors discontinued murder and attempted armed robbery charges against her.

According to the evidence, Cargill met Rigby at the dock on March 15, 2013, the day he was fatally shot. The sentence takes effect from March 2013. They exchanged phone numbers and he invited her to his home. Rigby took up the offer and as she and Cargill were leaving his home in Blair when three men accosted them and forced them back into the home. The men searched the home, but found nothing.

As they were fleeing, one of the gunmen fired a shot, which struck Cargill in the chest. Bernard Ferguson represented Rigby. Eucal Bonaby appeared for the Crown.
