Nassau, Bahamas - After 3 consecutive, and successful, years of taking young Bahamian
talent to the world's industry professionals including,  agents,
producers, scouts and managers via the International Talent Showcase
("ITS"), PTG Marketing & Modeling Agency (PTG) now prepares
for auditions for the 2014 event. 

As the 2013 contingent prepares to travel to Florida, in less than
11 weeks, for ITS, Mrs. Pia Rolle, President of PTG is excited about

Nassau Police investigate recent murder - Police are investigating a stabbing incident that has left a male resident of Wilson Street
off Hay Street, dead.

Around 6:00 am on Saturday 18th May, 2013 police were notified that the body of a male
was found unresponsive at Wilson Street...

Nassau Police investigate death of male -

Police are investigating the circumstances into the death of male who was found
unresponsive on a church property off Soldier Road.

The man was discovered around 3:20 pm on Friday 17th May, 2013 with injuries to the
upper body.

Island - It's Bruce Hunter's second time visiting Grand Bahama to
support the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society. He's on island for the
5th annual Comedy Show which is being held at the Treasure Bay Casino
this weekend with two shows, on Friday and Saturday night.  Hunter was
here in 2011 with the

Dumigod Players who were featured in the 4th annual comedy show.

On May 15th a great number of local actors and performers turned out at the Regency Theatre to glean the expertise of Hunter, who is

Last weekend, the Freeport Rugby Club held their 3rd Annual Junior Rugby
International Tournament. It was a great success.

Arriving in
The Bahamas were teams from The Cayman Islands and America to play the
great game of rugby. The teams all showed great sportsmanship and it was
obvious they all enjoyed themselves a lot. There were teams from under
nine to sixteen years old.

On Friday night there was a welcome
pizza party. 80 pizzas were delivered to the club, which was good as
while eating the kids all got to get to know one and another. When the
coaches and teams arrived they ran onto the pitch and all of a sudden
the field was filled with young rugby players. It was really cool to see

Nassau, Bahamas - The Minister of Education,
Science and Technology, the Honourable Jerome Fitzgerald brought
remarks at the Southeastern District of New Providence Schools' Annual
Awards and Recognition Service under the theme: "Celebrating Outstanding
Performance in Pursuit of Excellence". Pastor Trent Davis of Golden
Gates World Outreach Ministries was the guest speaker for the service.
Students and teachers received certificates and awards in various
categories. The awards for the Most Outstanding Schools in Overall
Academic Performance in the Primary, Junior and Senior categories were
won by Sadie Curtis Primary School, C.H. Reeves Junior High School and
C.V. Bethel Senior High School respectively...

On May 17, an updated
"Security Message" regarding the increase in armed robberies in Nassau
was issued by the Embassy to United States citizens residing in and

British Virgin Islands - Hon. Kenred Dorsett, Minister of the Environment
and Housing, traveled to the British Virgin Islands this week to attend
the Caribbean Challenge Initiative's (CCI) Summit of Caribbean Political
and Business Leaders where he addressed delegates.

 
In his address Mr. Dorsett pointed out that the Bahamian people are
"inextricably linked to our environment, our shallow blue seas and
our way of life. The environment sustains our lives and livelihoods.
The environment is the very foundation of our economic activity."

He said that the government's recognition of this truth is why The Bahamas
supports CCI and worked assiduously to bring it into being.

St. Lucia will host
representatives from 16 partner nations and the United States for the
multinational exercise Tradewinds 2013, from May 20 until May 31,
2013.   U.S. Marine Corps Forces South, the executive agent of
Tradewinds 2013 for U.S. Southern Command, will conduct the maritime
training exercise in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and
other facilitating agencies.

Tradewinds 2013 focuses on
increasing regional cooperation in the effort to counter illicit
trafficking and build participating nations' capacity to plan and
execute complex multinational security operations.  The training also
provides an emphasis on reinforcing human rights awareness in the
conduct of security operations.

year's annual Frank "Pancho" Rahming Primary School Track and Field
Championship scheduled for May 22 at the old Thomas Robinson Track and
Field Stadium will be in recognition of the Bahamas' 40th Independence

Born in St Paul, Minnesota to a Nassauvian father and a Louisianan
mother, Quinn's family moved to Freeport Grand, Bahama when he was only
two months. He grew up there and attended Sunland Baptist
Academy.  He is proud of the cultural aspects of his homeland with its
traditional foods, customs, architectural heritage, and the joy of
simplistic living which he enjoyed during his childhood, where he loved
to explore caves, hidden beaches, mangroves, and the underwater world.

Nassau, Bahamas - Despite a forty-five minute delay in the start of the pageant,
the Rainforest Theatre on Cable Beach came alive on Sunday evening, as
eleven graceful young women took to the stage to vie for the title of Miss Teen
Bahamas International.  The evening bore all the hallmarks of great
pageantry- from breath-taking national costume displays, to high end fashion
couture show and a fun fitness wear competition that reminded the excited
audience that they were, after all, at a teen pageant.

The proceedings were punctuated with stellar performances by
Julian Believe, Veronica Bishop and Jermaine Smith (the Karoke King) , which
brought a degree of calm to the audience, as they eagerly awaited news of who
would emerge...
