New Registrar Appointed to Pharmacy Council.

The Bahamas Pharmacy Council is pleased to announce that The Minister of Health has appointed Dr. Anne T. Vanria Rolle, Pharm.D., M.H.A.,RPh. as The Council's new Registrar.

Dr. Rolle has worked as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in the private and government sectors completing her last tour of duty with the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) as Chief Pharmacist in October 2010. During this tour of duty with the PHA, she was seconded from 2003-2006 as a technical consultant to The College of The Bahamas (COB) for the establishment of a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree programme. The establishment of this programme in collaboration with the University of Technology (UTech) Jamaica and the College of The Bahamas accepted the first cohort of Bahamian students in September 2008.

In April 2010 she was appointed by the University of Belize to serve as chairperson of an External Peer Review team for their Associate Degree in Applied Science Pharmacy.

She served as a council member of the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists (CAP) from 2002 and as 2nd Vice President and Chairperson of The Continuing Education Committee until August 2008. In October 2009 she delivered the inaugural public lecture of the Caribbean Institute of Pharmacy Policy Practice and Research (CIPPPAR) at the campus of the UTECH Kingston, Jamaica entitled “The Quest for Quality Pharmacy Services in Caribbean Health Care Systems.” She is also a member of the internal advisory committee of the CIPPPAR.

Dr. Rolle is a member of the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists (CAP), the Pharmaceutical Society of Botswana, the Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (CANQATE), and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP).

In August 2007 she was awarded the ‘Caribbean Pharmacist Primus’ (CPP) award, a peer award from the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists. As a recipient of this award, Dr. Rolle joins other distinguished Caribbean Pharmacists such as Mr. Frances Burnett, Managing Director of the OECS Secretariat’s Pharmaceutical Procurement Service, Dr. Peter Fontillus, Head of Food and Drugs in Curacao, and Dr. Ellen Campbell-Grizzle, Dean & Associate Professor College of Health Sciences University of Technology, Jamaica.

Dr. Rolle was featured in December 2009 in the “Woman-In-Action” section of The Punch.

She has recently returned home after working for the government of The Republic of Botswana as a Principal Pharmacist 1 in The Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital, Francistown Botswana and as Head of the Department of Pharmacy in The Institute of Health Sciences, Molepolole Botswana.

Dr. Rolle is a highly qualified professional who obtained her B.Sc., Degree in Pharmacy, from the University of Florida, a M.H.A. degree from The Western Connecticut State University, and a Pharm.D., from The University of Florida.

The Bahamas Pharmacy Council welcomes Dr. Rolle and look forward to working along with her to see that the goals of The Council are met in the best interest of The Bahamian public.
