In just three days, Cable Bahamas' short film "March On, Bahamaland!" reached an unprecedented 23,000 views online.

The short film, which is an original production of The Bahamas' national anthem featuring Bahamian recording artist Angelique Sabrina, was released on the evening of Thursday July 4th, and includes scenes shot across multiple islands in The Bahamas.

The video was released online and on Cable 12 following a 40th independence media event and flag raising at Cable Bahamas in Nassau. Starting July 9 and through the end of the month it will be played prior to each movie showing at Galleria Cinemas at their Mall at Marathon and John F. Kennedy Drive locations as part of The Bahamas' independence celebrations.

The film production has also been shared across numerous web sites and social media services, including BahamasLocal.com, EmployBahamians.com and NuWomanMagazine.com.

"We're ecstatic at the reception we have seen," said Cable Bahamas Head of Marketing David Burrows. "Since its launch last week, it has been seen by tens of thousands of people and shared more than 800 times on Facebook."

Burrows said that Bahamians and others have also viewed the video in more than 100 countries around the world besides The Bahamas, U.S. and Canada, including the U.K., Jamaica, France, Germany, Spain, Barbados, China, Nigeria, Australia, Nepal and Italy.

Of the hundreds of comments appearing on Facebook, Burrows explained, "It's clear that the younger generations, as well as those that recall the very first independence in 1973, have rediscovered the National Anthem. It seems that this short film has really resonated with a broad spectrum of our society."

A few of the Facebook comments that were shared online include:

"One word: Bravo."

"Listening to it made me feel so proud to be a Bahamian."

"Love it, wow -- it brings such great feeling and emotion."

"I just love this rendition of our national anthem -- video and vocals blew me away!"

"This is a fabulous video with a fabulous arrangement! ...There was so much attention to detail."

"I love this version...everything is beautiful. I am proud to be a Bahamian, thank God."

"The best I have ever heard by far of our anthem."

"This is absolute lovely... I have goose bumps and tears...Happy Independence Bahamas...we love you."

The production involved nearly 400 participants, including the Royal Bahamas Police Force Band, the Royal Bahamas Police Force Colour Guard, students in the Urban Renewal youth program, as well as hundreds of Bahamians who came out for the shooting of the finale scene at historic Fort Charlotte. It was produced entirely in The Bahamas.
