ABACO - A recent early morning blaze destroyed the main structure of Island Delight and Abaco Ice in Marsh Harbour.

Firefighters, however, were able to prevent the spread of the fire to adjacent buildings on May 18.

Marsh Harbour Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to the call just after 5:30 a.m. and met a fire in the warehouse of the business.

Island Delight and Abaco Ice are located directly next to Marsh Harbour Importers Exporters and its retail outlet SKAGG.

Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire, though it is believed to have started on the western side of the building. The building housed several freezers with fish and conch as well as bottling supplies for the water company. Keith Stratton, a partner in the business, said they are evaluating what they will do with the business in the future. He said their first priority is to get the ice section up and running and they are presently doing what they can to keep their ice customers satisfied.
