SWEET peppers are warm weather lovers so we should get them started as soon as possible. They do well during our mid winters but even better when the conditions are balmy rather than blustery. Sweet peppers - along with hot peppers, eggplants, potatoes and belladonna - are members of the Solanaceae family. They are plants that like their space and do not like to be crowded or to have to share their area with weeds. Even when planting sweet pepper seeds you must take care to firm the soil over them with your knuckles so that germination is better assured.
