Bahamas Striping Donates To Abaco At New Urban Renewal Opening

Bahamas Striping has added to its generous giving by donating 100 Christmas toys for children and 50 hams for the elderly to be given through Urban Renewal 2.0 in Abaco. The company presented the donations to Member of Parliament for North Abaco Renardo Curry on behalf of the Urban Renewal Commission at the opening of the Urban Renewal Center in Marsh Harbour on Friday.

The donations added to the 200 toys and 100 hams for Nassau given to Prime Minister Christie on behalf of Urban Renewal 2.0 on Wednesday this week. The young company decided to give back to the Bahamas generously because it has at last received striping work for the first time on major public roads as promised by Deputy Prime Minister “Brave” Davis in August this year.

According to Bahamas Striping President Atario Mitchell, the donations are a way of saying thanks to the government for “putting Bahamians first” and letting the benefits of local employment stay in the country. Mitchell stressed that “giving back to the community” is a cornerstone of his company’s philosophy.

Minister for Abaco, the Hon. Renardo Curry said: “The people of Abaco and Urban Renewal are very pleased to see companies like Bahamas Striping partnering with government to bring relief to the people. I commend Bahamas Striping for the work they do throughout the country donating services, training our young men and giving them jobs.”

“It’s wonderful to see Atario develop into such a hard working entrepreneur. He’s a fine example for our youth that you can achieve anything if you are determined. When “Tario” was in school he was like many young men: quiet, humble and disciplined, a kind of leader in his own right. Today, Murphy Town, where he grew up, is very proud of him. He’s a great example for our youth of what you can achieve when you put your mind to it,” said Curry.

The hams are the young company’s third charitable program in 2012 which started with the donation of 10 restored basketball courts worth $15,000 in various communities in the Bahamas. Five courts were donated to Urban Renewal worth $7,500.

The second charitable program was announced in early December when the Urban Renewal Commission and Deputy Prime Minister “Brave” Davis accepted Bahamas Striping’s donation of 200 toys to be distributed by Urban Renewal to struggling families with children. Mitchell added another 100 toys when he learned that the Urban Renewal Commission was opening its center in Marsh Harbour. The third program to donate hams is aimed at helping the elderly.

Mitchell thanked and commended other supporting companies that made the donations more generous to bring relief to many more families. He thanked Betty K Agencies for all the freight from Miami, and Dean’s Shipping for donating the freight from Nassau to Abaco.

Bahamas Striping also thanked Miami-based road traffic systems supplier Florida Transcor, Inc, donating many of the toys. Florida Transcor has been Bahamas Striping’s main supplier of road marking materials for the past two and a half years.
