AFTER making a tremendous contribution to the sport of sailing as both a sponsor and administrator, King Eric Gibson is gearing up for the biggest recognition that he has ever received.

A group of local businessmen have come together to honour Gibson by hosting a two-day regatta in Montagu Beach that was postponed from this weekend to next Saturday and Sunday, September 4-5.

"I'm thrilled to death," said Gibson, a native from Acklins, who came to New Providence in 1974 and have been involved in the formation and the operation of the Bahamas Boat Owners and Sailors Association ever since.
