'Marathon' match wraps up 17th AID Claycourt Champs

THE 17th annual Claycourt Championships, sponsored by AID, wrapped up with a thrilling three-set victory by 16-year-old Kevin Major Jr over 20-year-old collegiate player Jason Rolle.

In the Open Singles final, Major Jr won 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 Saturday afternoon at the Gym Tennis Club in Winton Meadows.

The match lasted three hours and 25 minutes and was the longest final in the 17-year history of the tournament. It was also one of the longest local finals in recent memory.
