When Jewels by the Sea wanted to introduce a new award-winning jewellery line, store owners could have taken a few ads, sent an e-blast, mailed cards to clients. Instead, they pulled out all the stops, creating an evening worthy of the piece that had just swept an annual jewellers competition beating some 430 other entries to take the top prize. Fine food, butler-served. Sultry songs and live jazz. Tents with silk and satin draping. Twinkling chandeliers. Subtle orchid lit furniture. By the time the event was staged, the store on West Bay Street had been transformed into a galaxy of soft lights and sheer luxury.
"We are really proud that Breuning has selected Jewels by the Sea for Bahamian distributorship," said a spokesman for the shop next to Sandals. "One of the company's pieces, a 14k White Gold Smoky Quartz Necklace, topped 430 other entries to take first place in this year's Jewellers Choice Awards. The new line includes silver and gold friendship rings, the Classic Collection and the Gold Design Collection and we wanted to celebrate their arrival in The Bahamas with style."
Glitz and glam joined diamonds and gold in a retail night to remember, an event celebrated in a way that made guests feel like royalty. By the time the night rolled around, the event had taken on a name that matched its mood -- ‘Radiance’.
From champagne cocktails to gifts of custom-crafted pieces, the reception was sheer elegance. Soft jazz, sultry songs, twinkling fairy lights, butler-passed canapes. It was one of those magic nights when people seemed to smile a little more tenderly.
At every turn, there was a sparkle, a sense of style.
“The entire evening and everything on display is incredibly beautiful," said one guest. "I feel honoured to be associated with Jewels by the Sea. It is not often a customer feels that way about a store.”
The Bahamian-owned, family-run business with jewellery stores in hotels since 1984 opened the stand-alone store next to Sandals five years ago. They launched a new website in time for Cyber Monday and they offered guests staying in SuperClubs Breezes and the Sheraton Cable Beach where they also have shops a Black Friday experience. But nothing, they said, could match the glitz and glam of the jewellery jam, ‘Radiance’. "We might have to make this an annual affair or commemorate new Pandora charms and other lines. People love a party and we love spoiling our clients."
