CRIMINALS LOOK VICTIMS IN THE EYE AS PART OF REHABILITATION

OFFICIALS at Her Majesty's Prison are taking a new approach in the rehabilitation of prisoners by allowing the inmates to meet with victims of crime.

The Sycamore Tree Initiative will bring criminals and crime victims together to "bridge the gap" between rehabilitation for offenders and to give closure to victims.

Dr Elliston Rahming, superintendent of Her Majesty's Prisons, called the project "a very important step".

Dr Rahming hopes that in bringing together persons who have broken the law with those who have been victims of crime, the project will bring "healing and restoration".
