Russian Federation Ambassador looks forward to deeper relations with The Bahamas

Ambassador of the Russian Federation to The Bahamas His Excellency Mikhail Kamynin paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham at the Prime Minister?s office last week, where the deepening of relations between the two countries and damage in Cuba after the passage of recent hurricanes was discussed.

His Excellency Kamynin said although formal diplomatic relations between the two countries is still young, both The Bahamas and the Russian Federation could take steps to create more concrete partnerships with one another.

He indicated that the Russian Federation wants to explore the possibility of Russian tourists travelling to more destinations around the Caribbean region.

His Excellency Kamynin noted that The Bahamas and the Russian Federation took the same sides on certain Resolutions that were adopted at this year?s United Nations General Assembly, and representatives from both countries got along cordially.

With regard to Cuba, the Ambassador said the international community beginning with the Russian Federation sent humanitarian aid to help with repairs and renovations in a country where the damage was said to be in the billions.
