Judge and staff facing poor working conditions

The staff of Justice Stephen Isaacs yesterday sifted through a heap of documents that had been dumped in his courtroom.
The judge and his support staff reported to work on Monday to find that they had been kicked out of their previous accommodations in the Senate building.
Movers had dumped important documents haphazardly in another courtroom in the main Supreme Court building.
The Senate building is under renovation.  Prior to the move, staff and litigants had to navigate around the dusty construction site.
The air conditioning system in the Senate courtroom has been out of order for weeks and the building is surrounded by scaffolding.
Justice Isaacs is serving on the civil side of the court.
Just this week, The Nassau Guardian highlighted the appalling conditions that employees of the Supreme Court Registry at Ansbacher House have endured recently.
The Registry staff is responsible for keeping files for the Supreme Court and the listing of cases.
The building's leaking roof has resulted in mold forming in the building and some staff members have reportedly fallen ill, according to sources.
Court files have also received water damage, sources said.  Missing ceiling tiles have exposed electrical wiring and buckets are being used to collect water.
The Registry now has shortened working hours because of the stifling heat in the building because the air conditioning system is out of order.
