Consumer Price Index – November 2022

The Bahamas National Statistical Institute is pleased to announce the release of its ConsumerPrice index, for November 2022.

The Monthly Inflation Rate in the Bahamas, which represents the overall change in prices, forNovember 2022 decreased by 0.1% when compared to October 2022. This decrease is reflected inthe overall price of items purchased by the average consumer during this period. This November2022 decrease in the inflation rate followed a 0.3% increase between the months of Septemberand October 2022.

The Miscellaneous Goods and Services saw a decline of 1.8 % when compared to last month.Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages also saw a 0.5 % decrease, while other categories had little tono significant change to note.

On a year over year, basis the inflation rate rose 6% over the same period in 2021. The majorcategories that contributed to this rise included, Food and Non-Alcoholic beverages with a 15.2%,Recreation and Culture 16.7% and Transportation 12.8%.

Additionally, diesel prices were up 31%, compared to this time in 2021 and gasoline also rose 13%. However, compared to the previous month of October 2022, gasoline prices showed no change, while diesel prices had a decline of 0.2% for the month of November 2022.
