Gems 105.9FM team wins Northern District in Street Legends

One of the four district number one spots in the Street Legends & Guinness Basketball League has been filled, as the Gems 105.9FM team clinched that position on Wednesday night, with a 47-45 over Pinewood, at Christie Park.

According to reports scores of Bahamians turned out for the highly anticipated game. The Gems 105.9FM team was led by 'Bones' with a side-high 15 points. He was assisted by 'Tiny', who contributed a dozen points in the win. Craig Williams scored a game-high 17 points in the loss, while 'Shaq' chipped in with 12.

With the win, the Gems 105.9FM team clinched the number one spot in the Northern District.
On Friday, in the first game at 7:00 p.m., the Garden Hillsiders will take on the Golden Gates Trailblazers. At 8:00 p.m., the Bain Town Destroyers will battle the St. Thomas More Ballers, and at 9:00 p.m., the Golden Isles East team will take on the Mt. Moriah West team. The first round of the playoffs will begin next Wednesday at the D.W. Davis Gymnasium on Wilton Street.
According to league organizer Wilton Russell, communities are coming together through friendly competition. He said that people are coming out to support their community teams.
