NEWS ITEMS ON HURRICANE SAM ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 6:00 AM MONDAY 04TH, OCTOBER 2021

…SAM NORTH OF THE GULF STREAM AND EXPECTED TO WEAKEN SOON…

AT 5:00 AM AST, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE SAM WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 40.8° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 48.7° WEST OR ABOUT 465 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CAPE RACE NEWFOUNDLAND.

SAM IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AT 30 MILES PER HOUR. THE CYCLONE IS FORECAST TO SLOW DOWN OVER THE FAR NORTH ATLANTIC SOUTHWEST OF ICELAND AROUND MIDWEEK.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 105 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SAM IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION INTO A POWERFUL POST-TROPICAL CYCLONE BY EARLY TUESDAY.
