Galleria Cinemas to Remain Operational over Holiday Weekend

The overnight release of the government’s updated emergency orders has caused a great deal of confusion and uncertainty for scores of local businesses and the wider public as well.

Unfortunately, the new orders have mandated the closure of scores of entertainment-based entities such as bars and nightclubs over the long holiday weekend. The order also mandates the closure of ‘indoor cinemas’ as well.

Since the very start of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the principals of Galleria Cinemas have been fully compliant with the rules and regulations set by the competent authority while also working to meet the needs of our many loyal customers. Back in March of this year, Galleria Cinemas petitioned the Competition Authority for an exemption to continue operating pursuant to Order 53 of the Emergency Powers (COVID-19 Pandemic). That exemption was granted and approved on March 18, 2021.

That said, Galleria Cinemas is happy to announce that it will remain open during the Holiday to offer the fun and family-friendly entertainment environment that Bahamians have come to love and appreciate. In addition to our already great prices, all movie-goers under the age of 12 will be able to take advantage of the Galleria Value Package. On Monday, May 24 all children’s tickets will come with a movie, popcorn, and beverage for just five dollars.

To ensure the continued safety of our loyal patrons, we will operate at one-third occupancy and staggered showings which will allow for the full sanitization of our theaters after each show. As has been the case over the past year, social distancing protocols including mask-wearing and hand sanitizations will continue to be enforced.
