Weather Warning Issued For NorthWest Bahamas

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE WEATHER WARNING FROM 12:25 NOON UNTIL 3:30PM TUESDAY, 23TH FEBRUARY, 2021.

A SEVERE WEATHER WARNING IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS INCLUDING THE ISLANDS OF GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, NEW PROVIDENCE, BERRY ISLANDS, ANDROS AND THEIR ADJACENT WATERS.

AT 12:25PM OBSERVATION, RADAR, AND SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICT A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A COLD FRONT MOVING SOUTHEASTWARDS OVER THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE QUICK ACTION SHOULD CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS
