Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis was given a tour of repairs taking place at the Rand Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 7, 2020.

Following a national press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister in Grand Bahama, Prime Minister Minnis was given a tour of all areas of the hospital presently under repair, including the male and female wards, the operation theatres, children’s ward, IT Department, the new pharmacy and a revised reception area and entrance to the hospital.

Repairs at the hospital got underway earlier this year, before the Covid-19 pandemic forced Grand Bahama to shut down.

The Rand was damaged by Hurricane Dorian in September of 2019. The Government of The Bahamas has allocated some $20 million towards the repairs of the Rand Memorial Hospital.

Prime Minister Minnis was accompanied on the tour of the Rand Memorial Hospital by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Peter Turnquest; Minister of State for Grand Bahama, Senator the Hon. Kwasi Thompson; Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness Management and Reconstruction, the Hon. Iram Lewis; and Hospital Administrator, Sharon Williams. (Photos/OPM Communications)
