Tru Tru Bahamian Festival on tap

Everything from down home favorite local foods served up as people enjoy them, to offerings with creative spins, sweets and drinks, jewelry, fashion, straw items, wood carvings and handcrafted soaps are just some of the offerings to be had this weekend at the fifth annual Tru Tru Bahamian Festival. With food favorites, arts and crafts, games, competitions, entertainment and a Junkanoo rushout, there will be something for everyone at John Watling’s Distillery on Saturday and Sunday. Children will be engaged with the all-day games and competitions on tap that will entice them to get involved – musical chairs, sack race, skipping rope, kite flying, storytelling, ring play, a pineapple-eating contest, an egg and spoon race, hula hoop and a dance-like-a-Bahamian competition…the games of their parents’ childhood may even encourage adults to let their inner child loose and join their children in the activities.
