BTC has taken a bold move, by doubling speeds for all Fiber to the Home (FTTH) residential customers. The company also extended access to high speed broadband services to the Cable Beach, Ridgeland Park, Pinewood Gardens, Ardastra Gardens communities and in George Town, Exuma.

CEO, Garry Sinclair said, “We’re giving our customers what they really want in their homes, faster broadband speeds for more and better connected devices.

Almost 4,000 customers have had their services upgraded from regular DSL services to high speed broadband as a result of our extensive upgrades.”

BTC’s fiber service previously provided a minimum of 25mbps of speed. Customers with the top tier broadband package are now experiencing speeds of over 300mbps. 

Sinclair continued, “There is so much more that’s now available to our customers as a result of this upgrade, including ‘smart home’ applications like security monitoring devices; energy conservation tools like smart light bulbs you can control and monitor with your mobile device; and remote control of appliances such as air-condition units, water heaters, refrigerators and audio-visual equipment all from your mobile device.” 

In addition to the smart home phenomena, customers with FTTH services can also get BTC’s next generation television service, Flow TV.

The service is the only one of its kind in the country providing customers with over two hundred channels and unique abilities to:

• Play from the beginning (Replay TV)
• Rewind and fast forward 
• Record in the Cloud
• View video on demand

The CEO continued, “Last week, we title sponsored the National Family Island Regatta, and we showcased our blazing speeds and Flow TV product in Exuma. Since the start of the year, we’ve gone directly to neighborhoods and held community events.

We’ve used the opportunity to provide white glove treatment to our customers, going to their homes ensuring that their existing services are working well, and telling them about new services that they can take advantage of. The initiative has been well received and we intend to continue it.”

Eastern New Providence, Lucaya, West End and Eight Mile Rock in Grand Bahama have already been blanketed with FTTH and Flow TV services. Customers can CALL-BTC (225-5282) to sign up for new broadband and Flow TV services.
