PwC in the Caribbean formally launched a new Diversity programme within the region, giving women across all grade levels the opportunity to meet with leading female (and male) partners in the network this month in New York City.

Six women were selected based on their responses to the campaign. The successful six benefitted from increased exposure and broadened awareness of the power of the network.

Frazer Lindsay, PwC in the Caribbean, CEO explained that “Over the last couple of years, we have been involved in the #HeForShe campaign.

I think it is great to be involved in these campaigns however it is actions that really make a difference. Our International Women’s Day competition was a great opportunity for our PwC women in the Caribbean to receive in-the-moment feedback and guidance from global leaders on how to navigate their careers, as well as gain from learning opportunities focused on building their personal brand and developing and maintaining confidence, will no doubt have a positive impact on them as they continue on their leadership development journey.”

With more than 55% of the directors at PwC in the Caribbean being female, Lindsay pointed out that, “We are determined to increase PwC partners that are female.

We are currently reviewing our diversity practices to find ways to further enhance diversity and inclusion within the region, including adopting more flexibility with reduced or flexible work hours, working from home, succession planning, targeted mentorship and development opportunities, and more. We are reimagining the possible.”

Heather Isaacs, Human Capital, Learning and Development & Diversity Leader, PwC in the Caribbean, who attended the IWD conference in New York City with the selected six, reflected that, “these ladies had the opportunity to receive personal messages from Sharmila Karve, Global Diversity and Inclusion Leader, and they sat and chatted with Agnès Hussherr, Global Human Capital Leader, a number of partners from PwC in New York, who also took the time to share their perspectives as well as Bob Moritz, PwC Global Chairman who spent some time talking about the global #HeForShe and what it means, along with his thoughts on diversity, inclusion and empowerment of our female staff.”

“This is what happens when we walk the talk and enable diversity and inclusion; when we put our ideas into action and bring the power of the region and the network together and open the lines of communication. The experience was exciting and inspiring.

It’s often difficult to take action and we often discount the small steps we can take, so this campaign, this trip, the resulting exchanges between our women and our leaders, all created the opportunity to talk about diversity in a way that was approachable and actionable.

This is not our end goal, but it is about our commitment to our core values - a means to more inclusivity - working together, integrity, and having a more effective workplace where we care and make a difference,” Isaacs added.
