Scotiabank aims to support initiatives that help young people reach their full potential. Over the past few weeks, employee volunteers have visited multiple campuses of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Summer Youth Programme as a way of remaining relevant and responsive to the needs of the local community.
“During the month of July, our employee volunteers were privileged to meet and interact with hundreds of students at the various Police camps, primarily with a fiscal focus,” said Nakera Symonette, Senior Manager, Marketing and Public Relations at Scotiabank. “Financial literacy is an essential component of successful living and children are never too young to be taught how to make responsible monetary decisions,” Symonette continued.
Scotiabank has a multi-year $50,000 partnership agreement with the Royal Bahamas Police Force Summer Youth Camps. This summer, volunteers visited the Central Division camp at C. R. Walker Senior High School; South-Central Division at C W Sawyer Primary School; Western Division at T. A. Thompson Junior High School; and Eastern Division at Thelma Gibson Primary School. A visit to the Police summer camp in Abaco is also scheduled.
Bank volunteers teach on finance (saving and investing); serve lunch and cold treats; and distribute gifts to excited campers who usually range in age from four to sixteen years old.
Additionally, Scotiabank has hosted kids’ community fun days on Andros, Abaco, Exuma and Grand Bahama islands this summer and has a fun day planned for abused and neglected children later this month.
