The Bahamas department of meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 7:50 am edt until 9:50 am edt, saturday july 29th july 2017.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for great exuma, the exuma cays, ragged island and its adjacent waters.

At 7:30 am observation, radar and satellite imagery showed a cluster of thunderstorms associated with an upper level trough over the central bahamas. 

Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, flooding, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.

Boaters in the warning area should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightning conductors.
