Police yesterday charged two young women with a stabbing incident that stemmed from the hit-and-run death of a 20-year-old near the Garage nightclub on Gladstone Road on Sunday.

Janiqua Russell, 20, of Pinewood Gardens, and Lacey Knowles, 19, of Winton, pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Angela Newchurch on April 25 during an initial appearance before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez.

Police allege that Russell and Knowles attacked Newchurch of Nassau Village after Orial Farrington was run over by a car.

Police have questioned the driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer and impounded the car. The alleged driver of the car is listed as a prosecution witness against Russell and Knowles.

However, police have not classified Farrington's death. Both traffic and homicide investigators are looking into the matter.
