10 local youngsters participanting in the Junior Golf Scholarship Programme at Ocean Club Golf Course were presented with new golf clubs, courtesy of Chris Kilvington, an OCGC member. Youngsters enrolled in the Junior Golf Scholarship Programme at the Ocean Club Golf Course (OCGC) got a sweet treat Monday, October 24th, when Chris Kilvington, owner and CEO of Global Pacific Produce and OCGC member, presented them with new golf clubs!

OCGC GM Robbie Leming said the generous donation is a much-appreciated compliment to the programme, which is making strides and has had a tremendous impact on its participants.

“Since our January start, the programme has been going very well,” he shared. “We have been making strides and can boast of several successes, namely Inecia Rolle who is now playing Division NAIA golf in the US. We are ecstatic about this gesture from Chris and Global Pacific Produce as it adds to an overall positive experience for these kids who have been working so hard on their game all year, and we say thank you as we continue developing these juniors into better golfers.”

A total of 10 local youth were selected at the beginning of the year to take part in the year-long programme, which is designed to promote junior golf as well as instill life skills that surround the game. The programme’s personalized sessions cover fundamentals of the full swing and all aspects of the short game, rules and etiquette, and on-course instruction. It also includes complimentary “stand-by” playing privileges on the Ocean Club Golf Course.

Participants – youngsters between the ages of 8 and 17 – are selected based on their character, integrity, passion and potential for success at a competitive level. In order to maintain the scholarship for the 12 months, they must maintain a GPA of B or better and they must always conduct themselves as professionals on and off the golf course.
