Karate kids return from U.S. Open tournament with hardware

Master Ronald "Smokey" Martin along with 20 students of Smokey's Karate School (SKS) participated in the U.S. Open ISKA (International Sport Karate Association) Martial Arts Championships, which was held in Orlando, Florida earlier this month. The kids not only showed up, but they showed the world what the martial arts students of SKS and The Bahamas are made of.

For many of the youngsters, this was their first time entering a karate tournament of this magnitude. Their accomplishments included: Kenson "Super" Storr (third in forms, finalist in fighting), Brenique "Missy" Johnson (third in forms, first in fighting), Kyle "XY" Rolle (first in forms, second in fighting), Kenrod "Hot Rod" Rolle (first in forms, third in fighting); Carrington "Torch" McIntosh (second in forms, third in fighting), Malique "Automatic" Jackson (first in forms, second in fighting), Te'Sean "Indian" Henfield (finalist in forms and fighting), Vestia "Lil Margie" Henfield (third in forms, first in fighting), Breyon "I'll Never Give Up" Cooper (third in forms, second in fighting), Ethan "Hawk" Pinder (second in forms, finalist in fighting), Owenique Belle (finalist in forms and fighting), Isaiah "Spaghetti Legs" Johnson (finalist in forms, third in fighting), Bernard "B.J." Swann (finalist in forms and fighting), Jayden "Lil Moss" Moss (finalist in forms, third in fighting), Martique "Matise" Thompson (first in forms, finalist in fighting), Rome "Romeo" Turnquest (finalist in forms, second in fighting), Savannah "Karate Princess" Turnquest (third in forms, first in fighting), "Lil Phil" (second in forms and fighting), Breon "Karate Kid" Huyler (fourth in forms, finalist in fighting) and last but not least Breanna "Mama" Stuart (first in forms, first in fighting).

The school extends congratulations to lead instructor Master Ronald "Smokey" Martin and the students of the school on a job well done.
