Pros, Shockers, Wreckers, Cleaners pick up wins in the NPBA

The Y'Care Wreckers, Double R. Services Ltd. Cleaners, Island Luck Pros and The Real Deal Shockers were all able to score wins on Friday and Saturday night in the New Providence Basketball Association (NPBA). All of the games were played at the at the A.F. Adderley Gymnasium.
On Friday night, the Pros managed to edge the College of The Bahamas Caribs 85-84 and the Shockers knocked off the Pyramid Food Rockets, 81-73. On Saturday, the Wreckers stopped the Rhythm Rebels 101-89 and the Cleaners took down the PJ's Stingers 90-86.

Friday's results
Pros 85, Caribs 84
Derek Ferguson led five players in double figures for the Pros with 25 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field in just over 34 minutes of action. He also added two assists and two rebounds.
Jason Mitchell added 18 points; Anthony Charlow had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, Dion McPhee chipped in with 11 and Kevin Wright came off the bench to score 10.
The Caribs were able to get off to a fast start that allowed them to take a 25-19 lead at the end of the first quarter, but in the second, the Pros were able to outscore them 27-13 and take a 46-38 lead into the half.
Although the Caribs were able to outscore the Pros in the third and fourth quarters, the deficit proved to be too great for them to overcome.
The Pros managed to win the game despite falling short in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.
Alvano Laing had a team-high 20 points in the loss for the Caribs. Glen Davis chipped in with 17 and Justin Smith finished with 14.

Shockers 81, Rockets 73
The Shockers were able to hold off the Rockets despite a 34-point performance by David Taylor, in a game in which both teams were short-handed.
William Rigby had a huge night for the Shockers, finishing with a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds in 40 minutes of play. Floyd Armbrister added 16 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Lamont Armaly chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Both teams struggled from behind the three-point line, shooting a combined 7-for-44 from long distance. The difference in the game was the Shockers' ability to score in the paint and their ability to protect the rim. They outscored the Rockets 52-48 and finished with eight blocks as a team.
Christorr Stuart finished with 16 points and Rashad McKenzie had six buckets and 14 rebounds for the Rockets.

Saturday's results
Wreckers 101, Rebels 89
Omeka Watson came off the bench to lead the way for the Wreckers with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Randy Williams added 21 points and four rebounds, Lorenzo Carter had 14 points, and Kessi Mical chipped in with 12.
The Rebels were able to jump out to an early 32-20 lead in the first quarter, and that lead grew to 46-34 by the half. In the third quarter, the Wreckers went on several runs, the largest a 12-0 push in the first four minutes of the third. The Wreckers were able to outscore the Rebels 43-21 in the third. The 43-point quarter was enough to put the game out of reach and secure the come-from-behind victory.
The Wreckers shot 25 free throws in the game compared to just eight by the Rebels. They also out-rebounded the Rebels 49-38.
Devon Brennen had 32 points on 13-for-19 shooting to lead the Rebels. Craig Buchanan added 25 and Anthony Moss finished with nine.

Cleaners 90, Stingers 86
Lenny Oscar and Rashad Woodside turned in strong performances to help the Cleaners get past the Stingers. Oscar finished the game with 29 points, five rebounds and five steals, while Woodside added 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Both teams shot 42 percent from the field in the game, but the Cleaners work on the defensive end was what secured the victory. They finished the game with 21 steals that allowed them to score 21 points off turnovers.
Kemsey Sylvestre finished with 21 points and nine rebounds, and Devon Ferguson added 18 points and six rebounds for the Stingers.
The NPBA is scheduled to be back in action with a double-header on Wednesday night at the A.F. Adderley Gymnasium. In the opener at 7:30 p.m., the Rockets will take on the Pros, and at 9 p.m., the Stingers will battle the Rebels.
