In recent years, Rap Kreyol has grown to a respectable sub genre in the Hip-Hop community. This movement has been spearheaded by rappers such as Wyclef Jean, Mecca Grimo, and Billy Blue. Now added to that list is local Haitian-Bahamian rapper Breezy Da Don. The young Kreyol rapper may sound like a brand new name to many, but in the local Haitian community Breezy is hailed as an underground hero due to his many headlining performances at Haitian Flag Day, and his performances at many Kompa and Rap Kreyol concerts. The young Rap phenomenon was born in the Bahamas to Haitian parents who left Haiti to seek a better future for their offspring.

As a young child, Breezy was sent off to Atlanta to live with his father where he was adorned the name Breezy by his dad for his quick witted personality and laid back attitude. It was in Atlanta where he first started to dabble in Hip-Hop, and learned to cherish the art form. Regrettably, due to circumstances beyond his control Brezzy was forced to return back to Nassau. While in the land of his birth, he found himself torn when it came to his passion for rap. He was not sure whether to rap in English or in Kreyol his second language. After many months of kicking flows with family and friends and in different rap ciphers, he realized that he could just blend the two languages in a hype, but smooth delivery which became his signature style.

After leaving high school, Breezy delved deeper into his craft. Slowly his following started to grow, and the massive crowd at the Haitian Flag Day requested him by name. His movement has suffered a slight slow down with his recent incarceration on drug charges, but he explains this was only a minor setback which he plans on dealing with quickly. Since his release, he has hit the ground running by signing up with local record label, 1st Class Sounds, which has launched his first two radio friendly singles “No More ft. D.I.V.A.” - produced by Renny Beatz/Davy DaDon, and “Show Your Crown”. Breezy Da Don definitely has got next, and will be one to look out for.
