ONE MAN has died and five other people, including a woman, are in hospital after a man opened fire on a group in the Sunshine Park park area of Nassau on Tuesday night.

Police have taken nine adult males into custody in connection with the incident.

According to reports, shortly after 9pm, a group of people were standing in a park in Sunshine Park when a man with a handgun got out of a white Honda Legend and fired several shots at them before speeding off.

Five males and a female were shot and transported to hospital, where they were detained. One of the men later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
