The sentencing hearing for a man convicted of abetting the murder of the teenage son of convicted drug traffickers Dwight and Keva Major has been adjourned to June 11.

Justice Bernard Turner was expected to sentence Kervin Neely yesterday for his part in the death of 17-year-old Enrico Major. At trial, Neely said that the only thing he did on June 2, 2014 was to give Dwayne Peter Lockhart a ride to a dead end corner near Lockhart's home.

Prosecutors said that Neely cut Ken Johnson and Major off with his car, and Lockhart, who pleaded guilty to the murder charge, and was sentenced to 24 years' imprisonment, jumped out of Neely's car and stabbed Major in the back. Major died on Baillou Hill Road opposite S.C. McPherson High School. Johnson said he held Major in his hands and then ran to tell his mother, Keva Dorsett-Major, what happened.

At trial, Neely did not deny giving Lockhart a ride. However, he said it was not with the intention of furthering a crime.

Aaron Johnson is the prosecutor. Glendon Rolle represents Neely.
