The Bahamas Department of Meterology has issued a severe weather warning with effect from 9:15am EDT until 11:15 am Tuesday 28th April 2015.

A severe weather warning is in effect for Eleuthera and Cat Island and their adjacent waters

At 9:10 AM radar and satellite pictures indicated clusters of thunderstorms moving toward the East across the Eleuthera and Cat Island areas.

Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at time causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightening, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity. Localized flooding could occur in low lying prone areas.

RESIDENTS ARE BEING ASKED TO REMAIN VIGILANT AND TO SEEK REFUGE INDOORS UPON SEEING ANY FUNNEL CLOUDS OR IF WEATHER CONDITIONS WORSEN.

Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightening conductors.
