BPF to honor past athletes

In a move which Bahamas Powerlifting Federation (BPF) President Rex Burnside is terming as long overdue, two former pacesetters in the sport here in The Bahamas will be the first persons to be inducted into its Hall of Fame. That first class of inductees will include former national champions Tony Mortimer and Della Thomas.
Mortimer set the national record in the squat at the initial national championships in 1981, 430 pounds, and according to Burnside, Thomas, who later ventured into bodybuilding, was the first female in the country to really get involved in sport of powerlifting.
