Foreign Affairs and Immigration Minister, the Hon. Fred Mitchell and Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville, were on hand on Friday to support local attorney and businessman, La'Quay Laing, on the opening of Emporium Distributors Bahamas Limited.

According to Mr. Laing, the business is offering a death benefit package where Bahamians can choose which package they want and make payments so that in the event of a death, they are prepared. There are currently four people employed there.

Dr. Darville congratulated Mr. Laing on the venture as being a Member of Parliament, he is faced daily with constituents dealing with the issue of burial for a loved one. He said he supports this, and any other young business person on the island, who come up with unique ideas and stick with them.

Minister Mitchell also congratulated Mr. Laing. He said that in Fox Hill, the constituency he represents, he too is faced with people struggling to bury their loved ones. The Minister added that this is a good idea in that the benefits received from National Insurance and Social Services may not be enough to fully cover the burial.
