A man suspected of robbing a former Cabinet minister's wife was out on bail when the offense was allegedly committed.
Keno Evans, 31, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney yesterday afternoon charged with the armed robbery of Ruby Roker, the wife of Loftus Roker, on Friday.
Evans also faces charges of causing harm to Roker and possession of a .45 revolver.
He was not required to enter a plea to the charges. He makes his next court appearance for that matter on December 22 before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
Evans was also accused of stealing a $300 Coach purse that contained $200 and personal items valued at $100.
Evans denied the theft charge. He will be tried for that matter on January 19 before McKinney.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Audrey Deveaux, objected to bail as Evans was recently released from prison after being sentenced to two years' imprisonment for stealing in 2012.
Deveaux said that Evans also had pending armed robbery matters.
McKinney denied bail and advised Evans of his right to seek bail in the Supreme Court.
