A 29-year-old man who stabbed and almost cut off his girlfriend's head was convicted of murder on Friday.
Gibson Raphael of Charles Vincent Street was found guilty of killing Kidley St. Brave in July 2012 in his rented room.
Raphael showed no emotion at the jury's verdict.
The couple had recently rekindled their relationship after a mutually agreed break-up of several months.
Raphael testified during his trial that St. Brave became enraged when she saw a text message from the mother of his son.
He said she slapped, punched and stabbed him with a screwdriver before she got his tile cutter and wounded his neck.
Raphael said he went into a trance after taking the tile cutter away from St. Brave.
Afterward, Raphael caught a ride to Potter's Cay Dock where he reported the incident to a policeman at the station.
Raphael was the only defense witness in his case.
He denied that he wounded himself after killing St. Brave in a jealous rage.
The jury took two hours to deliberate his case and returned a unanimous verdict.
Raphael returns to court for sentencing next month by Justice Indra Charles.
Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
