At the age of 14, he was interviewed by Mary Moseley, former publisher of The Nassau Guardian. Moseley wanted to know if he could spell 'Montagu'. His answer was that there was more than one way to spell it. He asked her which version she wanted.
Fox started work the next morning and worked at The Nassau Guardian for 54 years until he retired at 67 in 1981.
After the death of his wife, Fox moved to be with his daughter, Pat Moon, in British Columbia and lived there until his death.
He is survived by his daughters, Pat Moon of Courtenay, Vancouver Island, Gaylene (George) Styburski and son Winston Fox (Valerie), both of England; grandchildren Randy (Michelle) Moon of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, Ian (Grace) Moon of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, Karen Moon of Courtenay, David Fox and Nicola Fox of England; great-grandchildren, Mike (Lannah), Katherine, Brandon, Tabatha, Anthony and Dominic, Allan and Aaron Moon, Lilly Davies of England; great-great granddaughters, Sierra and Isabelle Moon of Chilliwack, Canada; step grandchildren, Andrew (Deborah) and Joanna Styburski of England; step great-grandchildren, Zoe of New York and Gabriella and Annabella of England; many nieces, nephews and other relatives in Australia, The Bahamas and the United States.
