Thank God for the blessed assurance of his Word

My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
As you pick up this newspaper and begin to read this column, I know that many people are thinking many things -- whether success will ever come your way; at which point your life will be freed from the lies told on you, and when the truth will be told; why your children are neglecting you after all the sacrifices you made for them to succeed; whether you're suffering because of a generational curse; and whether you will escape your family history of illness.
The truth is there is none void of some thought, good or bad, complex or perplex.
Most of the crime committed in our land today is as a result of bad and evil thoughts manufactured in the hearts of those who choose not to allow the thoughts of good, faith and values to be purveyors of moral and spiritual wellness.
The question "a penny for your thoughts" was put to a young man seated on a park bench by a woman who had been jogging and was resting for a while. All of a sudden the young man flashed a smile and twice said "thank you, thank you," and with that began to tell the story of how he came to be sitting in the park. He was planning to spend his last day on earth and at dark, take his life.
As a youngster his mother brought him to the park, but she died and life was very rough for him as he went from foster care to foster care. For him, life dealt him a heavy blow and he was not prepared to go any further. People didn't care, there was no love shown, jobs were hard to find and money was scarce. Nobody really thought that much of him to even ask of him a question, so where did this lady with a kind voice come from and then to sit next to him?
The question "a penny for your thoughts" caused him to burst out of the darkness of gloom and death into blue sunny skies of hope and gladness. Did he know that this was the wife he had long prayed for and the beginning of a brand new life-chart? I don't think so.
Some people find the very concept of divine revelation difficult. They cannot come to accept that God discloses himself to mankind in so many strange and mysterious ways, but without divine revelation we as human beings are like a boat drifting without a rudder in turbulent waters.
The vastness of the difference between the mind of God and the mind of man is indescribable, and for mankind to strike a balance, he must acknowledge that Almighty God is his creator and the creator of all that is on the earth, in the earth, above the earth and beneath the earth. "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," says the Almighty.
How many times in our lives we think thoughts and do deeds that are contrary to the will of God? We smile, laugh and fraternize, but it is only from our lips but not from our hearts. We say things that people would like to hear but completely ignore and scorn their wishes and requests.
Consider God's thoughts. Can we discover his thoughts or read His mind? Why we can't even read each other's thoughts. Certainly someone saw the young man responsible for the Colorado massacre that night at the theater. What if they were able to read his mind as he entered, or know his thoughts as he purchased weapons from various stores? What if they had known the thoughts of the contractor who dismembered his significant other? Passing through body scanners at airports and elsewhere cannot bring on screen the thoughts of those who would pass through.
The global situation of tragedy by reason of mass killings and bombings give true reason why we should cry out to God more for the cleansing and healing of cruel and wicked thoughts of those who have no remorse, shame or guilt. It moves them not one iota to see innocent children and defenseless women and men lay dead and soaked in their blood.
How we pray that more than ever, God will reveal himself to us and speak to our hearts so our souls would hear...speak to our hearts Father, calm every doubt and fear. Help us to know that the enemy has not gotten the better part of us. You make plans for your children beyond their wildest imagination. Your mercies are new every day and so are your blessings.
We confess that your thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are our ways your ways. We acknowledge that as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are your ways higher than our ways and your thoughts than our thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall your word be that goes forth from your mouth, it shall not return to you empty.
Thank you Father God for the blessed assurance of your Word.
