PLP accuses FNM of devaluing BTC

The PLP accused the FNM?government yesterday of gravely devaluing the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) and losing the chance to secure a further $130 million that could go toward shoring-up public coffers, in an official response to remarks made on Sunday by Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham.
The opposition party in an official release suggested the government should not sell 51 percent of the local telecommunications company to LIME, British-based Cable and Wireless Communication's Caribbean arm, and consider putting the selling price up to more than $300 million.
