Atlantis, Paradise Island continues to celebrate what officials at the mega-resort property say are the tireless and invaluable efforts of its employees. Tuesday evening, February 18th, saw some 40 nominees, including three from Atlantis’ Fort Lauderdale office, take to the stage in the Atlantis Theatre to vie for the coveted Crystals – Diamond Award in their respective categories of Leader, Manager and Employee of the Year.

When it was all said and done, Banqueting’s Sr. Director Glenroy Pratt won Leader of the Year and took home a prize package worth $10,000, which included a Western Mediterranean cruise onboard the Norwegian Epic and $4,000. The title of Manager of the Year went to Sr. Buyer in the Purchasing Department – Bryan Clarke and F&B Cashier Manager Don Williams. They each took home a prize package worth $10,000, which included a trip toOrlando, Florida and $6,000.

In the Employee of the Year category, two Heart of House employees – Housekeeping Houseman at the One&Only Ocean Club, Stephen Daxon and Stewarding’s Raheem White joined with Front of House team members – Dolphin Cay’s Tina Turnquest and Cove Coordinator Joy Ageeb Rolle in securing the win and taking home a prize package worth $15,000.

This year’s EOM’s received credits valued at $1,000 each from Phil’s Food Services, BEC, Bahamas Water & Sewerage, BTC, and Rubis Gas Station, as well as $10,000 among other things.

The Diamond Awards series also paid tribute to some 114 long serving – 43 20-year, 65 30-year and 6 40-year – team members.

In his remarks, Atlantis President & Managing Director George Markantonis, quoting Albert Einstein, thanked the nominees, winners and honourees for their contributions to what is now known as Atlantis, Paradise Island.

’Not everything that can be counted, counts. Not everything that counts, can be counted…’ That last part stuck with me. The Crystal Awards are about an intangible – something that cannot be counted or measured.

This event represents the every day efforts of all the hardworking and dedicatedteam members who do their part to make Atlantis, Paradise Island the most desired and complete destination resort experiences in the world, and I want to say on behalf of our owners, our management company, your executive and leadership teams, thank you for all that you do every day… We bring seasoning and spirit that you can’t buy or build overnight. It happens overtime.”

Brookfield Managing Partner Andrea Balkan and representatives from Atlantis’ Fort Lauderdale, New York and New Jersey offices were present at this year’s awards ceremony.
