Impressive times turned in at T-Bird Flyers Classic

It was a busy weekend for track and field in the country, as a number of athletes looked to obtain qualifying marks for various regional and international meets this season.
The two-day T-Bird Flyers Classic, held at the Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium, attracted more than 100 junior athletes. This was the first full meet on the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) calendar.
The final for the under-16 girls 400m was an exciting race to watch, as the four top finishers were all from Club Monica. Crossing the finish line in 1:01.98 was Marissa White. Charisma Taylor was second in 1:03.08, Angel Willie stopped the clock at 1:03.65 for third, and Anika Musgrove posted 1:04.80, for fourth.
Blayre Catalyn got the win in the 100m, in the under-18 girls division. Her time was 12.15 seconds. Alexis Grey came in second in 12.47
seconds, and Kaylea Albury was third in 12.99 seconds. Capturing the under-18 boys title was Naim Bourne of Swift Athletics. Bourne ran 10.74 seconds for the win over teammates Carlos Outten and Samson Colebrooke who ran 11.14 seconds and 11.17 seconds respectively. The winning time in the under-16 girls 100m was 12.62 seconds, turned in by Devine Parker of High Performance. Teammates Kayneisha Carter and Angel Collie secured the sweep, finishing second and third respectively. Carter's time was 12.86 seconds and Collie finished third in 12.95 seconds.
Vashti Mortimer and Bryan Clarke won the 400m hurdles in their respective divisions. Clarke's time was 1:13.38 and Mortimer finished in 1:19.28.
