Public Service Week and recognition of retirees

Freeport Bahamas - The tenth annual Public Service Week and Recognition of Retirees for the Northern Bahamas is to be held October 4 ? 10, the Northern Region Public Service Week Planning Committee has announced.

The theme is ?The Public Service: Striving for Excellence in Customer Service?.

This week of celebration will commence with a Service of Thanksgiving, 11am, October 4, at the Community at Heart Tabernacle Church of God of Prophecy on Coral Road, Freeport, Grand Bahama.

The general public is invited to join in the celebration.

On October 5, the 6am Morning Devotions on ZNS 810 Radio will be presented by the Northern Region Public Service Week Planning Committee.

The highlight of the week will be an Appreciation Luncheon held in honor of thirty retirees from Grand Bahama and the Northern Region.

This will be held October 8, at 12:30pm at Our Lucaya Resort, under the patronage of the Hon Zhivargo S Laing, Minister of State for Finance and the Public Service.

Long-serving public officers who have retired from the public service between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009, with tenure of twenty-five years or more, will be given special recognition on this occasion.

This year's honorees include person from the Department of Agriculture - Valerie Bain- Thurston; Office of the Prime Minister - Carnard Bethel; Bahamas Custom Department - Anthony Adderley, Kenneth Adderley, Franklyn D Bowe, Glen R Coakley, Anthony Newton, Phillip Saunders, Clifton W Seymour; Ministry of Education - Blanche Mader, Judy M Major, Pandora Mitchell, Juanita J Springer, Damaris Thompson, Frances N Wallace, Lineta Ellis (Bimini); Bahamas Immigration Department - Spence B Dorsett, Errol C Ferguson, Roosevelt H Newbold, James T Rolle; Police Department - Eugene Cartwright, Robert E Darville, Mark Edgecombe, Laurel Grant, Steven G Hamilton, Courtney C Higgs, Basil Rahming, Byron D Rolle, Rupert Wright; Post Office - Glenda Colebrook, Pearl P Prosper; Ministry of Public Works - Benjamin Miller; and Ministry of Youth - Autherine Turnquest.
