It is with great anticipation and excitement that we announce the staging of the 2013 Miss PLP series of pageants themed Beauty Without Boundaries: 60 Years of Elegance. The Miss PLP Pageant Committee will stage the Little Miss PLP, Miss Teen PLP and Miss PLP Beauty Pageants, on the evening of November 10th, 2013. This is a Gold Carpet event and will be held under the distinguished patronage of Mrs. Bernadette Christie, wife of our Party Leader and Prime Minister of The Bahamas.

The Miss PLP series of pageants seeks contestants from across the country who are intelligent and capable of performing in the role of a national party ambassador for the Progressive Liberal Party. The Miss PLP Pageant Committee wishes to attract females between the ages of nine (9) to twenty five (25) who are confident, ambitious, enthusiastic, positive, dedicated and committed to making appearances throughout the year of her reign. Potential contestants should also be poised, confident, well-spoken, attractive, talented, personable and community oriented.

We decided to host these pageants as an avenue to give our young ladies an opportunity to display their performable talents, to expose them to etiquette, deportment and personal grooming classes. Most importantly we wanted to give these ladies a platform to demonstrate to the wider community that we do have young people that are well rounded and concerned about what is happening in our communities and are not afraid to voice their opinions and bring attention to their causes. We also wanted to demonstrate that there are young ladies who can do so eloquently.

Applications for the various pageants are available here at PLP Headquarters or can be obtained by contacting the committee by email at missplp2013@yahoo.com. Screenings for potential contestants in all age groups will be held here at PLP Headquarters on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 beginning at 12 noon. When the contestants have been identified they will not only participate in the pageants but there will also be preliminary competitions held that will be open to the general public. The dates, venues and ticket information for all the various events and the pageant itself will be announced shortly.

As was mentioned this is a Gold Carpet event, a formal evening that will feature a photo wall and announcement of dignitaries and VIPs as they arrive. All media houses and photographers that wish to be apart of the Gold Carpet experience should contact the committee at the email address mentioned.

We are hopeful that this series of pageants will become an annual event on the calender of the PLP and the country. We look forward to your support as we crown three very special young ladies.
