Nicole Roberts wants your work, if you have any.

The writer, publisher, law graduate and mother just published three books under her publishing company Suffolk House Books. Now, she's on a tour to not only promote her work, but to encourage would-be writers to submit their work to her.

"I'm getting the books out there and encouraging Bahamians to hopefully send me their stuff," she said.

"I'm interested in seeing anything related to children's books.

It would be wonderful to have a series, fact or fiction.

"But she said any work of literature would be welcomed.Roberts has been living in London for the last seven years. She went there to finish her post-graduate degrees.

She said she's been writing "for forever".

In July, she published 'Bahamian Dictionary of dem old Essential Words and Phrases', 'The Story of The Bahamas in Ten Objects' and a collection of poetry entitled 'Of Love and Loss, Life and Laughter and home'.

"Over the last few years I've been sort of writing bits and pieces myself," she said.

"I thought well, it's no better time than the present to sort of do my own thing.

"So I started my own publishing company and the three books that I've written are the first offerings, but I'm here also to again elicit work from young aspiring Bahamian writers who are interested in becoming published authors as well.

"I'd like to help them achieve that goal as well.

"Roberts, the eldest daughter of Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Chairman Bradley Roberts, said despite her travels, The Bahamas is never far from her thoughts.

"I've lived abroad for a couple of years now, but The Bahamas is never far from any Bahamian's consciousness," she said."

I mean I don't care how long you've lived away, The Bahamas is always your first true love and the books that I've written are sort of an homage to my love of the country and the people and the culture and everything that is Bahamian.

"She held a book signing at Buy the Book on West Bay Street yesterday and is holding one today at Logos bookstore in the Harbour Bay Shopping Centre.

Roberts said the experience has been nerve wracking but fulfilling."I used to work at the Water and Sewerage Corporation and I went there last week to say hi to some people and one of the ladies she reminded me that 'My God Nicole you have always been writing'.

So I'm nervous, I've never done anything like this before.

"It's easy to sit at a computer and put all that together but when you actually have to talk about it, that's something else completely.

I'm not accustomed to that.
